3rd Day of Med Psycho.

Yesterday we had our 3rd day for med psychology, class start at 12pm, still the same things, walk to bus terminal, and take a bus.

The topic is about MEMORY. A interesting topic. What is actually memory? Memory is cognitive process of preserving current information for later use or is a psychological process of remembering, storing, and retrieving the information. There are 3 main types of memory: Sensory Memory which is the sensory data from five senses (like keyboard or mouse, remember what your press for miliseconds); Short term memory which is called working memory, a memory used to solve tasks (like RAM in computer used in solving all processing, and lost all data after shut down); and the last one is called Long term memory, it is a memory which holding knowledge and long retained memories, (like hardisck in computer storing all data for long time uses)

Forgetting is a process of losing memory from your memory. 2 mechanisms, displacement and decay. :P Have you experience it?

There are several tests to carry out to test about your memory. Want to try?
1st one is “remembering 10 words”
Doctor read the 10 words for patient, and patient must repeat the 10 words in any order. The procedur is carried out 4 times, and a graft is drawn.
The 10 words are Forest, Bread, Chair, Window, Water, Needle, Brother, Horse, Mushroom, and Honey. Try it with your brother and sister or your partner. Is fun.

2nd one is called subscale of Whechsler Adult.
This test is more difficult. 2 group of figures ranges from 3 figures till 9 figures. Patient must repeat the figures in order and opposite direction, if correct continue on to the 4 figures and so on.

3rd one is called mediated memory examination
Doctor gives patient a word, he must draw out for himself for remembering the word, He cannot use letters or any other notes. After the drawing is done, he should tell doctor what word is that.

We had our patient for interviewing. This time, the patient is a doctor, and he knows that he himself having psychiatric disorder. He is very co-operative and good.

Next topic is about thinking.. Want to know about it?
